Tradition, Reimagined for Contemporary Living

Asada

Tradition, Reimagined.

ASADA is a lacquerware manufacturer based in Yamanaka Onsen, Kaga City, Ishikawa, Japan — a region renowned for its long history of lacquer craftsmanship.

From product planning and coating to final sales, every process is handled in-house.
Rooted in traditional techniques of Yamanaka lacquerware, we create pieces that harmonize with contemporary living.

We do not simply produce tableware.
We design objects with their environment in mind — considering how they will be used, where they will be placed, and how they will feel in everyday life.

Expressing Color Through Layers

For example, the “Utsuroi” series is characterized by delicate color gradations inspired by the subtle transitions of the four seasons.

Depth that cannot be expressed in a single color.
Soft tonal shifts created by layering lacquer repeatedly by hand.
Depending on light and time of day, the surface quietly changes its expression.

In collections such as “Tasogare,” where additional layers create even deeper tones, we combine poetic Japanese words with forms that naturally complement Western interiors.

Reconstructing Tradition

Our goal is not to preserve tradition unchanged.

Instead, we build upon inherited techniques and reinterpret them for modern spaces and dining tables around the world.

Connecting past and present.
Bridging Japanese sensibility with global lifestyles.

This is the philosophy behind ASADA’s craftsmanship.
